FRANCE - THE ALPS & THE DAUPHINÉ-LIBÉRÉ
WITH MARCEL WÜST

France is Western Europe's largest country and one of astonishing diversity.  It is a complex geographic mosaic, with a diverse topography of plains, pastures, forests, vineyards and impressive mountain peaks.  The changing landscape provides enormous agricultural riches, and the French are envied for their variety of cheeses, wines and cuisine.  The Rhône-Alps offers a complete experience of the best of France – tradition, history and the distinct customs of the culinary arts.

EPIC CYCLING
Outside magazine calls this trip, "a ten-day fantasy camp for the serious cyclist," and the Evening Standard in London challenges you to, "pit yourself against the same Alpine climbs the top professionals have bested in the Tour de France."  Everyone agrees riding the legendary passes of the French Alps is on the "must do" list of the cycling aficionado.  The Col du Galibier and Alpe d'Huez, fabled ascents that have shaped hundreds of bicycle races come to life during this inspiring tour de force! The eight-day Dauphiné-Libéré stage race is contested over many of the climbs featured in the Tour, without the crowds and the craziness.  We are very pleases to have former professional Marcel Wüst as our special guest again this year. Marcel will be your guide up one of his favorite climbs, Alpe d'Huez, as he returns to the training ground of his early days with RMO. Our race viewing and riding will feature the stage 5 start in Annemasse, before we climb the Col de Joux-Plane and see the race as it heads for Morzine, and then for Stage 6 we will climb the Col du Glandon and the Col de la Croix de Fer, where will we see the KOM as the race crests the Croix de Fer on its way to finishing at La Toussuire.

AUTHENTIC CULTURE
Mention France and immediate thoughts arise of wine, cheese and the most renowned cuisine in the world.  Wines from Michel Chapoutier and Paul Jaboulet of the Northern Rhône are part of daily life.  In St. Pierre d’Albigny and Grésy-sur-Isère, multi-generation farms, vineyards, charcuteries and bakeries still thrive, where centuries-old agriculture remains a primary way of life.  The fresh aromas from local patisseries fill village squares as cafés come to life, all surrounded by cultural treasures dating back to Roman times.

EXEMPLARY SERVICE
France is regarded worldwide as an expert in the service industry.  A traditional Savoie chalet in Megève, a stately manor in Uriage-les-Bains and a medieval castle in Chambery-le-Vieux.  All offer unparalleled surroundings, perfect for sampling a glass of local wine while enjoying the chef’s selection of the day.  Like a fine wine or a gourmet meal, French culture is best when savored and enjoyed.  From regional cuisine to a gastronomique meal, everything is handled with precision, attention and warmth.  Register Now
